Veterinarian/Surgeon recommendations

My dog has a tumor on one of his toes that needs to be removed. They're planning on removing just the toe, not the entire limb and I was curious if anyone has any recommendations. The vet that I have been using gave us a written estimate of about $2,900 - Does that sound accurate?
