House Cleaner Question

What does everyone pay for regular professional house cleaning?

Also, please settle an argument I am having with hubby. I maintain that it is appropriate to clean before the house cleaner comes. This includes: tidying up, put stuff away, wipe down / dust all of your surfaces, clean out the gunk from the microwave / toaster oven, take everything up off the floor, quick sweep, clean the bathroom.

Hubby maintains that the only thing you need to do is clear off surfaces and put stuff away.

I think it's rude to leave obvious dirt / dust / gunk for someone else to clean up
