Hotel workers of Reddit, why is it so hard to book a room?

3 weeks ago 38

I called a hotel and got 3 different rates from 3 different employees ranging from $326 for 2 nights to $494. One person said the 3 A's discount did not cover that room, another said they didn't have the 3 A's discount. One said she had to "refresh the page". What the H? They don't have that information right at hand? So, why the disparity and why is it so hard?
