Bought car 1 year ago dealer won’t give us title, HELP !!!

1 month ago 45

I purchased a car from a used car dealer Superior Car Sales LLC in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on July 11 of 2024. From the very beginning things have been sketchy. They issued us multiple paper tags. It wasn’t until we left a very descriptive Google review that the manager personally drove the actual tag to my fiancé’s place of work along with $500 cash he paid him to remove the negative review. Come present day and a couple weeks ago. The engine blew on the car. That being said, the car is parked in the driveway unusable. We went to the tag agency to turn in the plate so that we could cancel the car insurance for the car that we are unable to drive. We tried to get the title so that we could sell the vehicle for whatever little money it’s worth. The tag agency informed us that the dealer had a “hold” on the title. We’ve been back-and-forth with the dealers manager who’s been giving us a runaround continuously saying he’ll call back in a couple of days with an answer. It is now a full year later and I cannot get a title to a car I paid cash for. The manager of the dealership this morning, threatened me via text stating “ your reviews are defamation, and I work for a bank that has big attorneys they will be notified. We will no longer be communicating with you”. I have filed with the Better Business Bureau, the Florida Attorney General, the Florida Department of consumer service services, as well as the Florida Department of motor vehicles. I used every dollar of my savings to purchase this car a year ago. I am in no position financially to pay for an attorney. There are countless reviews on this business is stating the exact same scenario that I am going through so I am not the only one they’ve done this too. I believe they are selling cars fraudulently that they do not have the titles for. What other reason could there possibly be for them to not give me a title to a car? I paid cash for a year later? What are my options? Where do I go from here? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
