I've been having a really difficult time maintaining my sobriety and think I'd benefit greatly from discussions with others in the same boat. The thing is, I don't even know where to start with something like AA... there are so many meetings online with some designated for certain groups, it's sort of hard to sift through and understand which would be most appropriate for me. Also, religion is a huge deal breaker (grew up gay in the Catholic church) and I know that tends to be a big part of AA. I've read online that you can ignore the religion aspect, but the whole "surrendering to a higher power" thing just feels a little triggering. Has anyone been to local groups that weren't religion heavy or have suggestions based on your experiences?
