Miami dade county commissioners are voting today at the city hall on whether the county will join forces with ICE (the 287g program). This means that local police will be trained as ICE agents. Under this program, some things allowed are that local police can conduct immigration checks in their daily routines (so if you are stopped they can ask you for your papers) and ICE would have access to all of our jail records. The outcome of this vote may determine how heavy of a presence ICE would have in the county.
