It's been a brutal year for Miami restaurant owners.
I posted earlier about all the closings we're seeing this summer: unprecedented. The ones who get beat up the worst, though are the real Miami mom-and-pop places.
So I wanted to show them some love when the New York Times ask me to help update this list of the 25 Best Restaurants in Miami — five on that original list closed. I've already written that "Best" is a loaded word, and frankly they only use it for SEO. I honestly feel it's a good list; they partner with local writers when they make these lists and I was the Miami Herald food editor for years (and I still live near la Calle Ocho).
We added five new places I hope you'll like. As always, I hope you'll tell us if you loved it, hated or were fine with just one serving. Cheers.
