Official unemployment figures for the West Palm Beach economy were updated today. Numbers for December have been finalized and preliminary figures for January have now been made available.
December
The unemployment rate fell to 3.1% in December. 3,596 positions were added, with only 431 workers entering the labor force causing the unemployment rate decrease. Nonfarm payrolls increased by 4,100. No individual sector saw significant employment changes.
January (preliminary)
The unemployment rate increased to 3.7% in January. 8,219 positions were lost, and 3,685 workers left the labor force causing the unemployment rate increase. Nonfarm payrolls fell by 9,300. No individual sector saw significant employment changes.
