I’ve noticed there has been quite a pronounced growth and presence of random solicitors holding iPads in parking lots and other spaces. I first noticed them operating by the dadeland Whole Foods and Target on US1 and 104th, and boy do they camp the lot and aggressively approach random people minding their own business! They usually try to get your attention by asking you some random trivia like “name three countries that start with V and we’ll give you a prize.” I once had the naïveté to engage them and the prize was some lengthy and concatenated process of them basically asking for your info to ultimately donate to some random shit.
They are INCREDIBLY annoying and insistent when they engage you, and I’m noticing them pop up in more and more places and it’s pissing me tf off. Does anyone know if this is one particular group behind this or just a random trend? I know there have been scams where they try to get you to scan a QR code, are these the same people?
