Questions to ask touring Apartments?

6 hours ago 5

Hi Everyone.

I have made a bunch of posts and research deciding which area is best for my husband and me. We both have settled on renting an apartment complex in Delray Beach (and maybe looking at a few apartment complexes in Boynton or Deerfield (closer to Delray).

We are going there in mid September to check it out first hand and tour a bunch of apartments.

What are some great questions to ask the apartment complex (things related to Florida living in regards to apartments, things to consider when moving to Florida) I have family in Orlando. So I’m no stranger to the downsides of living in Florida overall. I lived there with my sister for over a year a few years ago. The no-see ums, hurricanes, flooding, mold; bugs etc. I feel a lot of new movers have a rose colored view of Florida. So I want to know the down and dirty stuff that we need to consider when choosing an apartment. Thank you!!

Some issues I’m aware of - Mold control bc of high humidity (anyway I can check for that or notice signs?) - don’t rent on the first floor bc of flooding - termites if complex is made of wood (what do I ask to find this out?) - How often they spray for bugs? (This is a BIG one for me. What are some signs and some questions that will help me suss out which complex takes care of that really well)

And anything else you can think of!
