Places to go, people to meet?

Hi Everyone, I'm heading your way for a work related conference in June and would love to get your insider tips, advice & recommendations on where to go & what to do while I'm visiting. I want to do the usual touristy things in a short time but also get to experience the real Miami, the locals, culture & what makes you all unique. Any advice is hugely appreciated.
