NE 107th street / surrounding area unsafe?

Hello, I recently booked a house on Airbnb on NE 107th street in Miami. The street itself seemed ok ish a street over I saw some obvious signs of criminal activity, people fighting ect ect. I understand that in the Miami, Fort Lauderdale area you get some of that I used to live around here but this specific area really scared me and my mom. We are single females and we left. My question is am I allowing my first opinions to take too much of a drivers seat here? My host claims the area is one of the safest in Florida. What is the answer here?
