Moving to South Florida from Downtown Chicago - Downtown WPB?

1 month ago 25

Hi all! I am a 31 year old single guy moving back to Florida (grew up in Port Saint Lucie) after spending the last 4 years living in downtown Chicago (West Loop for my Chicagoans).

I'm pretty dead set on living downtown (West Palm) but the area has changed A LOT since I lived in Florida so I was curious how it is now. It seems like they've been building some nice new apartment complexes downtown. Are there plenty of things to do? Do people my age hang out there often? I'm not expecting it to compare to Chicago in this aspect but just want to make sure I don't feel like I'm living in a ghost town.

The rent price isn't a concern but I was wondering more about the lifestyle of actually living downtown. Do people actually go out there? Are there as many "young professionals" moving to and living Downtown as all these articles talking about all these huge firms opening up offices in South Florida suggest?

For those curious, I work remotely and am not concerned about rent prices as what I've seen is well within my budget. I'll have a car but would prefer to walk to things when possible.

Thanks in advance!
