Apologies in advance, but I am relocating to Miami from Boston for work. I will be in the office in Coconut Grove an average of three days a week. I am trying to determine the best area to live to keep my commute under an hour. I currently do +/-90 min each way in Boston, so trying to improve upon that for sanity sake.
I am a female, 33, single, dog owner with a budget of $2k. I like the beach lifestyle - I used to live in Venice Beach. I would walk my dog along the water in the morning and evenings, spend the weekend days on the beach, go to acroyoga on Sundays. I like walk ability to groceries, activities, and not having to move my car on weekends. I really only go out on Saturday nights and Uber when I do.
I also like living in a low rise with an entrance exposed to the exterior. There seems to be quite a few options that fit this criteria and my budget. My concerns about this area is the flooding. And that the gym options are a bit.. less than ideal. I liked the old Elev8tion - too bad it’s no longer there.
On the other hand, I am also looking in the Midtown / Wynwood area. These appear to be more mid-rise with amenities, but they are on the higher end of my budget. They also don’t list a lot hidden fees (parking, pet, whatever else they feel like). But it seems like this where the 30+ crowd is? Would the commute to Coconut Grove be better? How bad is the flooding?
If I opted for Miami Beach (Flamingo Park area), is an hour commute average? Also, how hard is resident street parking when you get home around 7:00 pm? I can parallel like a beast, but don’t want to search for hours.
Thank you in advance for your advice. And again, I’m sorry for being a transplant. 🫠
