Hello! I have a bit of an issue. I play a medium scale 4 string (squier paranormal rascal) and I tune down to drop c. I also have a tendency to hit my strings pretty hard. On my full scales, I prefer 130's for drop c, and I really like the feel of big ole telephone cables. My problem comes with throwing 130's on the shorter scale bass. They unravel on me and my less than light touch does not help. I've seen people modify the strings a bit to prevent that (the guitarist from loathe does that with his baritone I believe), but I just want to be able to have a set that works out of the box. I cannot find a short scale bass string set that goes up into the heavier gauges for the life of me. Any help is appreciated !
