how to start playing bass as a guitar player?

I’ve been playing guitar for a while and recently got interested in bass. I know they look similar, but I’ve heard the mindset and technique are pretty different.

Any tips for a guitarist switching to bass? What should I focus on first to actually sound like a bass player and not just a guitarist on bass?
