How do I renew my driver's license?

I'm at that point where I can't renew online so I need to go to the DMV in person. Everything is booked. The DMV and the new tax collector locations have no appointments available. I've been driving with an expired driver's license and I need to resolve this. Do I need to leave Miami-Dade to renew my license? How do people do this? Someone told me I need to pay $250 to a scalper to buy an appointment. I'd rather drive to another county if that's the only way. Looking for solutions.
