Have Fender clarified their plans for G&L?

I guess I heard the news a little late, but just read that Fender acquired G&L intellectual property rights, and that G&L has shut down its operations and factory. Being honest, G&L was so niche, and it was so rare to see their instruments on display in a store, that I really wondered how they stayed in business. That said, I'm a big fan of my G&L Tribute L2000 - the thing is a freaking beast, has really innovative electronics, and has a totally unique sound. And I hope that Fender keeps the technology alive.

Fender generally play it pretty safe, preferring vintage instrument reissues than inventing something new. But they do have pockets of innovation here and there, such as with their Ultra or Aerodyne series. I'm not sure what that means for G&L. There's speculation that Fender bought G&L just to use Leo's name and image. On the other hand, I'd love it if we see some Squiers or MIM Fenders that incorporate MFD pickups, the G&L preamp, or even the heavy bridge.

So does anyone here have any clarity on Fender's plans for G&L?
