Going solo to miami carnival?

So I signed up to be part of the One Island mas band for Miami Carnival but unfortunately will have to go solo this year since everyone else pulled out. Do people usually go solo? I know they have some companies that organize get togethers but this one looks like it's a week long and I only have that Friday- Monday off. Any tips and recommendations or tips for makeup/ photographers, etc? I don't know too much about the fetes ngl. I guess I'm nervous. I've gone once before with Wassi Ones Band years ago and it was a bit confusing and felt a little disorganized, but I had a friend to go with so I felt safer.
