DAE: Wonder how people afford things?

I don't mean just in general, but like people you know as aquaintances. You know what they (and if applicable, their spouse) do for a living, and it's not something that pays a huge amount. But then they are always doing things that financially don't seem plausible, like going on multiple vacations a year, driving new SUVs, eating out a lot, always having the newest phones/consoles/stanleys/etc.

This isn't meant to be judgmental. It's more jealousy mixed with a bit of confusion. Because I know how much things cost and then I think...there's no way this person/couple is making the amount of money these things cost, even if they're at the higher end of their field's salary range. Like it just doesn't add up.

It just feels sometimes like everyone around me has secret money...like a big inheritance or maybe an illegal sidehustle they can't talk about lmao.
