16 year old trying to make friends?

Heyo, so I'm a homeschooled 16 year old and I've been trying for a long time to find friends and I feel like I haven't been able to. I've tried joining social groups and going to events and things like that, and I just don't really know where to go from here or if I should just be lonely until I turn 18 and have more opportunities.

I don't really get along with kids my age because I'm transgender (born female, prefer to be called male), but even if I call myself a girl it doesn't really work out. A lot of my interests are weird, and I'm autistic. I'm still open to being friends with kids my age of course I just was wondering if theres some sort of special environment I don't know about?
