Witness/Dashcam footage needed: Accident on I-95 NB near Oakland Park Blvd 31 exit

2 weeks ago 23

Hi,

I was involved in an accident on I-95 Northbound right around the Oakland Park Blvd exit 31 on 2/14/2026 at 1:00pm.

A Blue Nissan was speeding and hit my White RAV4 from behind/right side. "I’ve been driving since 2011 and this is my first accident ever. I’ve always maintained a clean record, so this is very stressful for me."

If anyone saw this happen or has any dashcam footage, please let me know. Beyond the insurance claim, getting more information would really help me personally understand exactly what happened in those few seconds.

The Details: I was driving a White Toyota RAV4 at about 60 mph in the 2nd lane (not counting express lanes) and was preparing to exit at 31A. I had my turn signal on. To my right and slightly behind (in the 3rd lane), there was a brown SUV. I slowed down specifically to let that SUV pass so I could merge behind it where it was clear.

As soon as the SUV passed, I merged behind it. I turned my head to check the right mirror and saw a Blue Nissan "flying" between lanes, coming straight at me from the rear right, only about 10 feet away.

The Nissan’s front left corner hit my rear right corner. The impact jerked my car forward. I lightly tapped the brakes for a split second just to stabilize the car (I did not slam them), felt a second lighter impact, and then immediately hit the gas because I realized the car was still moving straight and I needed to maintain momentum to stay in control. I then carefully pulled over to the right shoulder.

The Nissan driver told the police officer that I "cut him off".

My car (RAV4) has a crushed rear right corner and a torn bumper. Interestingly, there are prominent tire marks on my bumper from the Nissan’s wheel, and only a few streaks of blue paint.

On the Nissan, the front looked mostly intact, but the front left fender was dented at a tangent (glancing blow). I strongly suspect the primary impact was delivered by his front wheel, which would explain the heavy marks on my car and the relatively low body damage on his.

Unfortunately, I was in shock immediately after the crash and didn't think to take photos of the Nissan’s left side or walk around vehicle.
