Official unemployment figures for the Fort Lauderdale economy were updated today. Numbers for January have been finalized and preliminary figures for February have now been made available.
January
The unemployment rate increased to 3.4% in January. 11,898 positions were lost, and 7,053 workers left the labor force causing the unemployment rate increase. Nonfarm payrolls fell by 10,100. No individual sector saw significant employment changes.
February (preliminary)
The unemployment rate increased to 3.5% in February. 5,634 positions were lost, and 5,355 workers left the labor force causing the unemployment rate increase. The overall Nonfarm Payrolls figure did not change significantly. No individual sector saw significant employment changes.
