Rental market for single family homes?

I was looking at primarily renting single family homes in Fort Lauderdale & Wilton Manors area this past month. I haven't seen anybody bite at the prices, despite landlords decreasing their asking rent by 10% or so recently.

I'm not familiar with the market in the area. Is the height of summer a low season for rentals? I'm not in a rush to move but would like to do so within a month or two!
