Quick trip to north ft laudterdale

Going on a quick trip next week for 3 nights in ft lauterdale, my wife an I are in 40's like night life having drinks good food bars live music etc.. what are some good safe places we should go and some places we probably shoulnt hang out at :).

Were staying near Las Olas Beach and few places i can see near by at rock bar, elbow room etc..

Any ideas of things to do or not to do would be great.. thanks!
