New in town (41F) — how do adults even make friends here?

Hi everyone! 👋 I’m 41 years old and I moved to Fort Lauderdale from Europe 4 months ago. It’s really hard for me to make friends here. I can speak English, but I didn’t use it much in the last 5 years. I mostly spoke Italian, Ukrainian, and Russian.

I was never a shy person, but now I feel scared to start a conversation. And the sad thing is — I have no one to talk to. I even tried some apps to meet friends (I don’t care if it’s a man or a woman), but many people there are looking for a relationship, not just friendship.

I don’t know what to do. I feel very lonely, and sometimes I think I’m getting a little depressed 🥹
