Need freshwater fishing spots

Hi everyone. To all my fishermen here, I just picked up this hobby and I am having the most difficult time finding where to fish. I spent an hour down at tropical park lake. I tried the canal in my yard. Did not catch anything. I’ve been using all I can to worm bait to artificial lures.

Most of the freshwater fishing spots I see recommended are private/fenced off and require trespassing, or require you to leave your car somewhere and walk miles. Please help.
