Hotel rec w good bar and restaurant (or restaurant nearby)

Looking for a nice hotel (updated rooms, fun/lively bar) in Fort Lauderdale. Preferably on the water. It’s for a group of women late 30s. We’ll only be there for 1 night but would like a good place to stay. If you could also recommend a good restaurant nearby or bonus points if the hotel has a great restaurant on site. I have never been to Ft Lauderdale and have no concept of different areas there. Thanks!
