Group dinner

Need a recommendation. I’ve got a group of people that are coming to see me give an academic lecture and I told them we could all go out for dinner and drinks after. The problem is I don’t know exactly how many will show up- anywhere between a couple and a dozen. Where’s a good place we could get into on a Friday evening with minimal wait and without a reservation? I’d like it to be someplace good, but I’m fine with cheap diners too.
