Good Apartment Buildings & Job Market

1 month ago 19

Hi!
My husband and I are moving up from Key West FL (upper 20s). We are looking to make the move in late July/August. We would like a 2/1 so my parents can come visit. I have a small dog. We are bringing our food truck business with us and I want to go back into the hotel industry in the meantime.

I've been looking in the Victoria Park area but are there other areas I should look in? Avoid? If anyone has any apartment building recs I would take them. Budget preferably around 2400 or less. We don't really care where we live. We both have cars so walkable isn't that important. As long as the area is safe that is fine with us.

I am starting to apply to jobs up there. I have 5 years of hotel/property management experience, food experience through my food truck, and I also do social media work. I currently work for myself in Key West doing the above, but we can't find anywhere to live that is affordable (think $2500 for a studio with no kitchen). I know it is expensive up there but it isn't nearly as bad as where we are coming from.

My husband has the same experience, but more focused on restaurant management. How easily do you think we will get a job? How is the job market for hotels, restaurant management, etc?

I can't really get an apartment without an offer letter, but since I am not local, worried I won't get any interviews. Any advice? Thank you all!! Excited to relocate to the mainland!
