Fort Lauderdale on the Brink: Mismanaged, Maxed Out, and Unprepared

Could all the land giveaways in Fort Lauderdale be part of the reason we’re now looking at a future budget crisis and possible millage rate hike?

TLDR: Basically, the city kept giving away public land and spending like crazy, thinking rising property values would cover it all indefinitely. Now the economy is slowing down, property values are no longer rising, and the city is facing a potential huge budget mess and may need to raise the millage rate to prevent a budget deficit in future years. Big projects are way over budget, bad deals like One Stop Shop/Bahia Mar/Snyder Park/Panthers Holiday Park/Chase Stadium (some of which should have never happened to begin with imo) could have brought in big revenues but don't, and our water bills could go through the roof too and already are. The City Commission claimed growth would pay for everything, but it won't.
