Car Rental Scam in Fort Lauderdale

If you'd like to be dropped off in the middle of nowhere, mentally tormented, and then lied to and SCAMMED then this is the car rental agency for you.

After your long shuttle ride and/or Uber ride, you'll be dropped off to a facility with the following:

1. No air conditioning; be prepared to sweat.
2. Vending machine didn't work; you can see the nice cold bottles of water but can't get to them.
3. Long lines and even longer wait. I personally waited about 1.5 hours however some people stated that they had been waiting for over 2 hours (so bring water and snacks)
4. Be prepared for the bait and switch. The good deal that you originally booked will be conveniently be canceled while you wait in line. At this point you must rebook for 3x's the cost! Yes, you'll be directed to rebook with one of the sister companies located at the same counter. You will also be required to pay a deposit upfront for the rental. A family next to me had to pay a $1500 deposit upfront for a minivan. And yes, they had a major credit card and well over 25 years of age!

If you were desperate enough to rent the car then finally 3 hours later you're officially done. If you were so pissed and refused to give in to their BULL like me; then you had to start over. I did get a great deal at SIXT Car Rental at Fort Lauderdale Airport. I picked the vehicle up in 10 minutes with great customer service!

In summation, the beginning of your wonderful vacation will be ruined by the manipulation of the car rental agencies at 2600 SW 3rd Ave. You will be dropped off in the middle of nowhere. You will be hot, hungry and thirsty. Your happy kids will be tired and frustrated ( kids were sitting and sleeping on the floor due to the excessive waits). Your good deal will cost more than the Hertz, Enterprise, Sixt, Alamo, or National that you should've booked instead. You will not receive any customer service. Their goal is to manipulate you and leave feeling defeated and disrespected.

So if you're keeping up with this unbelievable horrific experience then you should know by now to run to the hills and book anywhere else but at 2600 SW 3rd Avenue! Please note that there are several car rental companies associated with the address of 2600 SW 3rd Avenue in Fort Lauderdale. AVOID anything tied to this location. A few of the car rental names that I can recall are as follows: Advantage, America, Next Car, Go Rent a Car/Rent a Wreck, OTOQ, and Green Motion.

Additional information: Booked via Expedia for $129 and never received a cancelation notice. Rebook cost $289
