Beach parking in December

We’re planning a family vacation the week after Christmas, and need to decide whether to save a few bucks and stay a bit further from the beach. We will have a car to get to the beach, but would also like to be walkable to some stores/restaurants. How is the parking situation on the beach in peak season?
